All are invited to attend a meeting in emergency session to discuss the crisis created by the wreck of the MV Miner.

The Main-A-Dieu Community Development Association expresses grave concern over the continuing presence of the wreck since running aground on the shores of Scatarie Island on September 20th, 2011.

Please come out to share your thoughts and concerns regarding this issue with our local levels of representation.

Poetry With a View 2011
Main-A-Dieu Coastal Discovery Centre


The Coastal Discovery Centre will be hosting a night of poetry on Friday, July 22nd.
Poets include Sean Howard, Anita Lahey, Ian Le Tourneau and Anne Simpson. The nights MC will be Ken Chisholm.

Tickets are $10.00 each which includes light refreshments and beer and wine will be available for purchase. You can purchase tickets at the Big Wave Cafe (located in the Coastal Discovery Centre) or by calling 902-733-2258.

Summer Positions at the Coastal Discovery Centre

Any high school and university students (returning to studies in the fall) looking for summer employment are encouraged to submit their resumes to the the Coastal Discovery Centre in Main-a-Dieu.

Spring is, well almost, SPRUNG!

The snow is gone and the peepers are out in full melodic force!

Spring is a season of change for the better, and how fitting that a Federal Election has been called for May 2nd.

Voters from Main-A-Dieu will be hitting the polls at the Coastal Discovery Centre to cast their ballots and lucky for them Janice will be offering a delicious meal to those who stop by the Big Wave Cafe.

Fish Chowder will be available for $8.00 and the meal includes a bowl of delicious chowder, roll, home made gingerbread and tea & coffee.

Also, the Main-A-Dieu Community Development Association will be drawing for a Mother’s Day Basket full of lovely gifts and treats on May 6th. Tickets are available at the Big Wave Cafe or by phoning 733-2258.

Wondering what to do … come to the Dieu!

The Main-A-Dieu Community Development Association in partnership with the C@P Society of Cape Breton are hosting a Family C@P day at the Coastal Discovery Centre on Thursday, July 15th.

Festivities begin at 11:00am and include free hot-dogs and drinks, computer access and lots of games with prizes to be won!
