Spring is, well almost, SPRUNG!

The snow is gone and the peepers are out in full melodic force!

Spring is a season of change for the better, and how fitting that a Federal Election has been called for May 2nd.

Voters from Main-A-Dieu will be hitting the polls at the Coastal Discovery Centre to cast their ballots and lucky for them Janice will be offering a delicious meal to those who stop by the Big Wave Cafe.

Fish Chowder will be available for $8.00 and the meal includes a bowl of delicious chowder, roll, home made gingerbread and tea & coffee.

Also, the Main-A-Dieu Community Development Association will be drawing for a Mother’s Day Basket full of lovely gifts and treats on May 6th. Tickets are available at the Big Wave Cafe or by phoning 733-2258.

What’s New in the Dieu …

The New Year brings with it new and exciting adventures and opportunities. The Main-A-Dieu Development Association has lots on the go including the upcoming ‘Pancake Breakfast’ fundraiser to be held Saturday February 6th at the Centre. Tickets are now sold out and everyone is looking forward to a morning of great food and wonderful company!

The ‘Big Wave Cafe’ has been busy serving it’s delicious homemade soups, sweets and warm drinks. A perfect way to warm up on a cold winter’s day.

The ‘Freecycle’ program is also up and running with many interesting and useful treasures waiting to be found. If you have any household items (except electronics!) you were about to throw away … why not donate them to the ‘Freecycle’ program instead. Items are free for the taking and donations are always welcomed.

We are very fortunate to have Dr. Pauline Mesher and her ‘Learning Support Program’ every Wednesday and Thursday evenings at the Centre. Parents and children are taught to work together to improve study habits.

For all those who resolved a healthier and more fit New Year the Centre is the place to go! Plans are underway to set up an exercise room. Donations of exercise equipment are always welcomed.

Don’t forget, the Centre has many other wonderful programs and services such as weekly crafts, Tai Chi classes, the C@P site and of course the Main-A-Dieu Library.
